Sunday, October 24, 2021
10:30 am & TBD (probably 2:30pm)

Based on the list that we have you have qualified for the North American Pairs (NAPs) Finals. You must have qualified in a local club in New York City or in Long Island in a NAP or online in a BBO qualifying game through a local club.

District 24—which includes New York City and Long Island—will hold a tournament to determine who will represent the district at the spring national tournament, which will be held March 9-10, 2022 in Reno, Nevada. As all the finals will be held on Oct 24 you may play in any ONE of the flights that you are eligible and qualified for. Please find your name in the district qualify list (Link below) to ensure that you qualified in the flight you want to play in.

The cost to play is $30 that includes both sessions.
Make sure you have sufficient funds in your BBO account prior to signing up.

Depending on your masterpoint eligibility (as of June 2021 cycle):
Flight A: Open to all players
Flight B: Open to players with 0-2500 masterpoints
Flight C: Open to Non-Life Masters with fewer than 500 masterpoints.

The top three finishers in Flight A and top four finishers in Flights B & C become eligible to represent District 24 at the spring nationals in Reno.
- 1st Place in each flight is expected to receive a travel subsidy of $700 per player
- 2nd Place in each flight is expected to receive a travel subsidy of $300 per player
- 3rd Place in each flight and 4th place in B & C may compete in the tournament but do not receive a stipend.

Players must be members of Units 155 or 242 (New York City or Long Island) as of June 1 of 2021 and need to have qualified for the NAP at a club or an online game.

The Finals are held on Bridgebase and will begin at 10:30am. Please log in at least 15 minutes prior to game start. The link to the tournament will be found under the ACBL World Tournament section.

The Nassau-Suffolk Bridge Association (NSBA) represents Long Island's bridge players in a wide variety of bridge activities that take place at the local, district, regional and national levels each year. Our primary objective is to promote the growth of duplicate bridge in our area. Toward this end, we work to develop educational programs, support club initiatives, conduct tournaments, and assist in interfacing with the American Contract Bridge League which is the governing body for all sanctioned, duplicate bridge in the United States.

Our organization is run by a Board of Directors elected by our general membership. These volunteers, along with our club officials and thousands of bridge players in our area, have created an atmosphere in which friendly, competitive bridge is thriving on Long Island. At the same time and looking to the future, a devoted team of teacher volunteers have successfully introduced bridge to elementary and middle school students in our public schools in an ongoing effort to develop a new generation of bridge players. Whether as a player, a teacher, a Board member or tournament volunteer, the NSBA welcomes your participation. Please feel free to contact us through the links on this website if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding bridge on Long Island.

One of the most rewarding things you can do for bridge is teaching fifth-grade students. It's fun, and the kids have such a wonderful time with the game. Join our team of teachers and volunteers. You need not be a bridge expert or a school teacher or bridge teacher. What you do need is a desire to work with kids for one hour a week.

We will hold training sessions so you will feel comfortable working with one of our school teams! If you are interested, please contact Carol Mathews  or Jim Schneider.
